Fighting Human Trafficking and Creating New Futures

Who We Are

Set Free Monterey Bay

Set Free Monterey Bay is an anti-trafficking organization established to assist adult women (ages 18 and over) sex trafficking survivors to find healing in a restoration home and to educate the Monterey Bay community about human trafficking.

Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, we work with each resident to create and implement an individualized life plan. We provide 24-hour care in a holistic, family-like environment.

“Through this program I have found my worth and I know I will not settle for the things I used to. There is more for me than the old patterns and ways I was living my life.”

Our Approach

Restorative Care

RESIDENTAL HOME

Our two-year residential program is designed for adult female survivors to treat each aspect of their health—physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational—to fully support them on their journey to holistic recovery. We dig in and walk deeply with survivors so that they may fully heal in order to thrive. The two years are completely free of cost to them. For the first year, we provide space, time, and guidance to work on their emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental health. In the second year, we begin to help them prepare to succeed in pursuing their hopes and dreams. We partner with Eden's Glory and follow the EG way- in their complete program model.

OUTPATIENT & ALUMNI AFTERCARE

At SFMB, we recognize that every survivor's journey to healing is unique, and there are often many barriers that she will encounter beyond a two-year program. At their direction, we continue to offer guidance and support as they establish themselves beyond the home, navigate life transitions, and build healthy relationships. Our services extend to survivors who do not need residential services, have children, or may be further along in their healing journey. We provide case management services, classes, and needs assessments with these clients monthly.

Prevention Education & Outreach

CSEC (COMMERCIALLY SEXUALLY EXPLOITED CHILD) SERVICES & SUPPPORTS

We dream of a world where people won’t need to be rescued from being trafficked. Unfortunely for those who have already experienced exploitation and/or trafficking we want to come along side that population and equip them to prevent the cycle of abuse from continuing.

SCHOOL BASED OUTREACH

We provide human trafficking awareness and prevention training to students in the Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito school districts. Our custom curriculum is informative and engaging. It helps students understand the reality and danger of human trafficking. Read More…

We dream of a world where people won’t need to be rescued from being trafficked. Part of realizing that dream come true is educating younger generations to recognize the predatory practices of traffickers and avoid their traps. We equip thousands of young adults every year to fight for their freedom and resist those who seek to enslave them.

Community Leader Awareness Training

We are building partnerships within our community by training first responders, social workers, local churches, hospitality workers and businesses. Brininging an awareness of human trafficking to their respective networks and equipping them on identification and response protocols.

Safe House Certification

Set Free Monterey Bay was awarded a bronze level of certification from the National Safe House Certification, provided by Safe House Project.

Through this six-stage certification process, including final determinations made by a third-party certification review board composed of industry experts, the programs were found to be providing high-level care based on best practices established through empirical research and survivor input.

According to Safe House Project, organizations receiving a Bronze certification have achieved the foundational level of survivor care within the industry. While working to achieve essential best practices, these programs maintain a safe and reliable environment, meeting baseline standards effectively. SFMB may require additional time to showcase outcomes since they are a newly established residential home. A bronze designation indicates that they meet all essential standards, with the potential to evolve into influential leaders in the field.

Your contribution makes all the difference in the fight to end Human Trafficking.
