Education & Outreach

In collaboration with our partners, we equip thousands of youth every year to stand firm against trafficking and exploitation. Using our specially developed curriculum, our team visits middle and high schools to teach students how to protect themselves online and recognize the warning signs of manipulation.

  • Over 9,000 young people educated
Over 1,500 students can identify signs of human trafficking
  • 3 different counties reached

Training

Eradicating human trafficking starts with awareness. Through targeted training, we equip professionals, including first responders, social workers, healthcare and hospitality teams, to recognize and respond to human trafficking.

We inspire change across the community through presentations for churches, businesses, and civic organizations, empowering local leaders to become champions for freedom. From 2024-2025 alone, we saw:

  • Over 1,200 community leaders trained
  • Over 250 first responders trained
  • Over 100 total training hours delivered
  • Over 80  volunteers trained to support residential care

Residential Care

Our free, two-year residential program offers a place of safety and renewal for adult women rebuilding their lives after human trafficking. Inspired by the Eden’s Glory model, our program provides residents with trauma-informed, whole-person care that nurtures healing, stability, and the confidence to step into lasting freedom. In 2024-2025 we provided:

  • 123 hours of therapy delivered to residents
  • 150 hours of case management provided
  • 54 hours of medical appointments coordinated
  • 341 safe nights for survivors
  • 19 fun outings and 620 hours of fitness activities, supporting emotional and physical wellness

Outpatient Care

Our outpatient program continues the healing journey for women and families after residential care. Survivor-directed and structured in three phases, our program offers case management, education, and support that empower survivors to heal, rebuild, and thrive in freedom. Specifically, outpatient services consist of:

  • Over 70 hours of care
  • Ongoing services like equine therapy, career development, and case management
  • Intensive outpatient high-touch support
  • Step-down care for growing independence
  • Alumni mentorship for lasting community

Child Welfare

In partnership with the Department of Social Services, we provide leadership development and peer mentorship for Monterey County youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation. Our goal is to empower system-involved youth to heal, find their voice, and step confidently into leadership.

  • Over 1,700 children received human trafficking prevention training
  • Over 1,400 volunteers and service providers trained in trauma-informed care

Get Immediate Help From the Safe House Project

Set Free Monterey Bay does not function as an emergency response or crisis shelter provider. Instead, we focus our energies on long-term restoration, education, advocacy, and support for survivors. If a survivor is in immediate danger or seeking safe housing right now, the Safe House Project is equipped to help. They operate a national network of emergency and transitional safe homes for trafficking survivors. They can initiate life‐saving support by filling out their referral form or calling for immediate assistance.
