Defending Their Worth and Freedom

We have a lot to praise God for! SFMB opened our restoration home just under one year ago, and we are about to celebrate our first graduate, along with other residents who have joined us this year! One of our clients recently reflected on her time with SFMB: “Through this program, I have found my worth and I know I will not settle for the things I used to. There is more for me than the old patterns and ways I was living my life.” We are so grateful for her story and the opportunity to serve survivors of human trafficking in Monterey County. The giving of our SFMB community made her testimony possible!

SFMB is a Christ-centered organization whose purpose

is to run and operate a restoration home for women

who have been sexually trafficked, as well as provide

education and outreach to the Monterey Bay area.

Our vision is to see that the needs of survivors are met with a complete, holistic approach. We believe that an informed and educated community is a community that is part of the solution to ending modern-day slavery.

The goal of SFMB is to eradicate human trafficking, which is a global problem that is also prevalent in every city within Monterey County.

Until we opened our restoration home, there was no safe home for survivors of human trafficking in Monterey County, and there is no other home aside from ours in the tri-county area. Our residential home provides safe shelter and healing programming to survivors who are residents of Monterey County and beyond. We provide relief and recovery for those individuals who have exited the life of exploitation, allowing one less woman to be victimized in our county.

Our organization also provides training services for volunteers who would like to work with survivors of human trafficking and have volunteers from every area of the county. We seek to reach survivors and do as much prevention work as possible, starting with youth and working up to adults. We currently have an education curriculum that is circulated through the middle and high schools throughout Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz Counties that teaches young people prevention techniques in regard to human trafficking.

We offer numerous training sessions on trauma-informed practices and human trafficking basics to other organizations, law enforcement agencies, and medical personnel within Monterey County to improve the identification and intervention of trafficking. We also provide training to churches and other faith-based organizations to raise awareness of trafficking within their communities and congregations to expand available intervention services.

God has blessed us in all of this work through your partnership in offering your time, prayers, and resources. We invite you to join us in the fight against human trafficking in a new way today: we can’t do it without you!

Our monthly donors are called “Defenders” because, through your giving, you are serving as a defender of healing, freedom, and opportunity for survivors.

We are currently working to reach 100 monthly donors by July 1 to assist us in the efforts of fighting human trafficking and committing to the needs of survivors. If you would like to join us in this way, please visit our Giving Page to set up your recurring donation.

However you decide to give, or currently give, we are grateful for your support. If you have friends, family, or your church leadership that you believe also have a desire to partner with us, we would be glad for you to connect us with them. You could also consider hosting a Freedom Dinner, joining our prayer team, or simply spreading the word about what God is doing through SFMB. As you help us spread the word about SFMB, more people can join us in the fight against sex trafficking in Monterey County!

We are praying that God would continue to use you in significant ways, and we welcome any questions you may have about the work or your involvement.

For Freedom,
