Dear Friends of Set Free Monterey Bay: Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday! We are very expectant for 2022 and wanted to share a few, very exciting, updates.

We are excited to release the third installment of the Set Free Monterey Bay quarterly newsletter! Please continue reading for an update on two key SFMB initiatives: (1) immersion and development of our relationship with our sister program, Eden’s Glory; and (2) announcement of our first annual fundraising auction on Saturday, November 13 from 6-9pm at Corral De Tierra Country Club. There is a growing movement to fully decriminalize prostitution across the nation, built on the belief that full decriminalization will lead to a decrease in trafficking and exploitation. This movement is supported by many sex worker activist groups who, although they represent the minority of people in prostitution, tend to be the most vocal.

In light of the current pandemic, many human trafficking survivors are now facing financial insecurity, job loss, poverty, and even homelessness. We as a community need to recognize these are the exact vulnerabilities that human traffickers prey on.
